Lagu ini diciptakan oleh Layne Staley (vokalis) dan Jerry Cantrell (gitaris). Pada 1992, lagu "Man in the Box" mendapat nominasi Grammy Award untuk kategori Best Hard Rock Kolaborasi ini diselenggarakan dalam rangka merayakan 30 tahun dirilisnya lagu "Man In The Mirror".
